I was introduced to Adrian through my cousin in July 2010. We communicated online regularly for more than one year. Then he informed me that he was coming to visit the Philippines on January 2012. We were both excited and anxious to meet each other in person.
Adrian arrived Iloilo, Philippines on January 19, 2012. We met up for dinner at a restaurant called Summer House, together with some of my relatives, his brother, grandma, and cousin. I was so happy to finally meet him. He was very nice and I knew right away that I really liked him.
On January 23, 2012 we went to Guimaras for a day visit with my relatives and friends. I was so surprised when he asked me in front of my relatives and a lot of other people if I would be his girlfriend. I was so happy, I said yes! We spent the whole day together getting more acquainted with each other. We talked about how we would be able to handle our long distance relationship and I asked if he was really sure about this. I felt more secure when he said that he would do his best to make our relationship work. I was very sad when he had to leave on January 27, 2012 to go back to the U.S.
When he returned to the U.S., we chat so much on Skype. It was really hard having a long distance relationship, but we learned to be patient and trust each other more. After more than a year of communicating, Adrian decided to visit me again. He came to visit me again in the Philippines last October 31, 2013. He intended to stay for only 2 weeks but then decided to extend for a month so we could spend more time together. A lot happened during this time and we became so much more comfortable with each other and knew that we both loved each other very much.
Once he returned to the U.S., we started to talk a lot more about our future plans and spending our lives together. We talked about getting married one day and for me to go to the U.S. so we could be together. He then returned to the Philippines on July 29, 2014 with his father. My parents invited Adrian and his father to a family gathering at our home to meet my family and relatives. This is when Adrian spoke to my parents to formally ask for my hand in marriage.
