You Turned Me Into a Morning Person:
The steam from my tea wafts lazily through the 7am air.
Blanket draped around my shoulders, hands clasped around the warm mug,
I’m awake, thinking about you.
-------
I don’t remember falling in love with you.
I just remember how warm I felt the first time you put your arm around me,
watching the sunset in DC
how you gave me the last piece of bacon,
on your couch watching TV
And the night when you kissed my hand
on the floor of my living room
(which was the first of many kisses
that still shoot lightening down my entire body)
There was a mixed CD you made for me
that you promised would make me weep
but it was your words in the text you sent me one night
that caused the tears and kept me from sleep
(Could you taste them still when you kissed my face
5 times in the back of my car?)
Once I went down a really steep water slide
that left me shaking both from exhilaration and terror
being with you reminds me of that
because I told you I needed to be careful
(but running from you
is like trying to run through mud)
I don’t remember falling in love with you.
I just remember holding your hand
realizing how much it was going to hurt
when I would have to let it go.

You're the Northern Wind
Sending shivers down my spine
You're like fallen leaves
In an autumn night
You're the lullaby
That's singing me to sleep
You are the other half
You're like a missing piece
Oh my love
Oh my love
Oh my love
You don't know
What you do to me
You are all four seasons
Rolled into one
You're like the cold December snow
In the warm July sun
I'm the jet black sky
That's just before the rain
Like the mighty current
Pullin' you under the waves
Oh my love
Oh my love
Oh my love
You don't know
What you do to me
I'm the darkest hour
Just before the dawn
And I'm slowly sinking
Into the slough of despond
Like an old guitar
Worn out and left behind
I have stories still to tell
They're of the healing kind
Oh my love
Oh my love
Oh my love
If I could just
Find you tonight
If I could just find you tonight
Oh my love |
