Will and I have been together for a year and a half now, and let me tell you: it's been tough. He's five years older than me and neither of our families liked us even being friends let alone in love. Regardless, our love was too deep to stay apart. My favorite memory was the night we met. I'd never been one to believe in love at first sight, but the night we met, when our eyes met, it was just... instant connection. It was like my heart was saying, "Ah, there's my other half. Where have you been all my life?" That night we didn't know that he was atheist and I was Catholic. We didn't know he lived three hours away nine months out of the year. We didn't even know he has five years older. All we knew was we couldn't keep our eyes off each other.
Will's currently studying abroad in Europe, currently in Italy and on his way to Paris in a few weeks. He'll be gone for three months. It's the longest we've been apart since we met. One day I traveled the 3-hour trek to go see Will, and we tried to carve our names into a tree. Let me tell you, it's not easy. So, I decided to make this tree for him, so we would have a (somewhat) permanent display of our love. |
