This distance that separates us, that forces itself between us is anything but forgiving. It has crafted a spell of doubt and fear, cast worry forever above our heads. It created a challenge I never saw or expected to enter my life. Though I am so grateful it did, even more grateful it is you I face this challenge with. There has been pain and tears, agony and never-ending wishes. A yearning, a longing, a dream to just see you smile in front of me, and for once, witness your laugh in all its beauty. There are countries, hundreds, even thousands of miles between us but, to me, it means nothing. Because, sure, it's hard to wait for something you aren't positive will happen but, it's even harder to give up when it's everything and more you've ever wanted. Until the day it is no longer a dream, no longer a wish. Until it is instead a reality: a toast, and of course this tree, to you - my love.
